Japanese artist Kaoru Matsumoto excels at using “wind” as an enhancement to spin or move his kinetic art works. With the changing of light around it, his elegantly moving sculpture offers a visual effect that challenges the rules of physics. Mr. Matsumoto will share the secrets of kinetic art creation with his models and video documentaries.

Lecturer:Lin Hong-Wen (Associate Professor of Department of Fine Arts, Tainan University of Technology)

Lin Hong-Wen’s copper casting and steel sculpture series: “Lounging in Pine Whispering” is one of the artworks of the campus public art project. This work combines the concept of environmental art and lyrical mood. Though the artist was a major in Western painting, he is not restrained by his academic upbringing. Lin instead tries different materials that lead to more possibilities.

The coin-shaped, stainless steel washers are the source material in Huang Pei-Ying’s public artwork, “Five Morals of Elephant”. In this course, the artists will apply various kind of washers along with card boards, leading everyone to challenge the extremes of 3D materials and to explore the elements of public art.
