Brief Biography Return

Chunshien Li received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1996 from the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA. He is currently a full professor in the Department of Information Management, National Central University, Taiwan. He was with the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, National University of Tainan, and the Department of Electrical Engineering, Chang Gung University, respectively. Prof. Li was also the Chief of Information System Group of Computer Center, and the Director of Teacher Development Center, National University of Tainan, Taiwan.

Prof. Li received the Research Award from the National Science Council, Taiwan, in 1999 and the Research Award of Excellent Teacher from Chang Gung University, Taiwan, in 2000. He has been the first author of more than 100 academic and technical publications. He has been biographized in Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering, in Medicine and Healthcare, and in the World.  Prof. Li was invited as Session Chair in the 2004 IEEE Conference on Cybernetics and Intelligent Systems (CIS) and IEEE Conference on Robotics, Automation and Mechatronics (RAM) in Singapore and the 2005 Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Applications in Taiwan. He has served as a referee of paper review for the journals of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics-Part B: Cybernetics, IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, Fuzzy Sets and Systems, International Journal of Uncertainty, Fuzziness and Knowledge-based Systems, International Journal of Computer Applications in Technology, and other international journals and academic conferences.

Prof. Li participated in the research project of the auto-warehousing industrial crane system funded by Formosa Heavy Industrial Company, one member of Formosa Enterprise Family, Taiwan. The prototype of the studied crane system has been put into the industrial products in various sizes and functionalities, which are now in the international market, with excellent performance of motion positioning accuracy in mm scale and supreme market competitive. Up to March 2004, over 150 industrial crane systems have been sold in the international market, cost  more than 20 million US dollars. More of the industrial auto-warehousing crane systems are expected in  international industries. Prof. Li's current research interests include soft computing, computational intelligence, neuro-fuzzy systems, pattern recognition, intelligent signal processing, intelligent systems and control, machine learning, and chip/processor-based real-time systems.
