Dear every user in NCU (@ncu.edu.tw 及 @cc.ncu.edu.tw): We, National Central University Computer Center, started mail- filtering system on 2003/12/16 due to the lots of spam and virus mails. Our mail service works well because it help users to filter around 60000-100000 spam and virus mails everyday. Every user has his opinion about spam so our old anti-spam system can not be satisfied with every user. We will start a new mail-filtering system on 2006/05/24. We start a personalized anti-spam system which combines with the advantage of the original mail-filtering system, and with personal mechanism of filtering SPAM mails into the target, provide every user can according to personal favor and the mail characteristic, establish a suitable personalized anti-spam system.
New system provides with personalization the junk mail filters system for main target, But we can't know everyone's mail characteristic and personal favor in advance, There for we still prepare for a default value according to the following principle when new system starts working, This value may not as you want, you can change your setting anytime and it will take effect after 20 minutes. The default value is score 2 of level 2 for those users that use the original anti-spam system, and new system will notify them automatically. The default values are score 6 of level 1 and score 10 of level 2 for those users that do not use the original anti-spam system, and new system will notify them automatically.
We will run the new mail system step by step to make sure its stabilization when transferring. So the old mail system and new mail system will run simultaneously on 5/24 ~ 5/31. Under the principle of the load balance carry on, this doesn't influence the users of receiving mails, Just using dissimilar standard to judge mail is spam or not.
