Hi! I am Rin

A little introduction about me, I am Rin. I began at the University of Science in Vietnam's Department of Oceanology. In all honesty, I did not study well there. After almost four years of college, I became intrigued by programming. After 1.5 years, I enrolled in programming-related courses and received my Data Science credential from the University of Science's Information Center. Professor Wang visited Vietnam in September 2019 to interview and give scholarships to students pursuing Master's and Doctoral degrees. Anyway, thank you for approving my application and enabling me to study for my master's degree in Taiwan. At the time, I was still trying to figure out what I could accomplish or what route my research for the next road should go. Leaving my comfort zone and experiencing a new environment and nation was the right thing to do.

Finding my research path in Taiwan took a long time when I first arrived. When I didn't comprehend what I was doing, I decided to "concentrate on the courses"; attempting to understand and finish the courses was my method of comforting myself that: "I can do it and am well suited to this academic environment," but that time take the most of my time; even though I got a suitable score in courses with a zero background, I'm constantly doubtful of my abilities, and I'm locked in that loop. Later, Professor Wang reminded me that "the course just supports my research," so I began to return to and concentrate on the research issue. Fortunately, the professor and I found an appropriate study path for me after that time.

I do not know how my master's study will help me learn and grow in the future. But it teaches me problem-solving abilities and scientific thinking. This study issue was too complex for me; I spent much time finding out what to do next when all possible solutions were exhausted, and I felt no one could help and understand my research. But it taught me how to tackle difficulties and the skills I need to know for my study. The study and learning process has also helped me increase my abilities in Python, R, Fortran, Matlab, and QGIS...

I knew what I wanted to accomplish in the future after studying for a Master's degree in the GeoHydraulic lab. I improved my programming abilities to answer research challenges. It is support for my Ph.D. research in the Computer Science department, National Central University.

Besides that, I gained not just knowledge but also mental. I realized that regulating my emotions is essential in collaboration. I also realize that everyone will have to go through the process of altering their surroundings. If I continue to grow, I will meet new individuals in various settings, and each person's views and behaviors will be different. All I have to do is remain calm and more careful. I am not sure I will always have great emotional control, but staying calm in any setting is something I've learned and want to improve. Seeing things from multiple angles and asking questions regularly will help me solve any challenges that may occur.

Unfortunately, I am not a good typical or suitable case to share with new students about my significant research experiences. However, this may be the case for you if you still do have not a clear direction in your study from the first time. Instead of panicking and stressing, grasp the chance and attempt to figure out the next steps for employment. When I came into difficulties, Professor Wang is a person who is there to help.

Thank you very much, Professor Wang, for enabling me to study and work in your lab. Your encouragement and support enabled me to persevere when there seemed no way out. Special thanks are due to Yang Yung-Han and my lab mates. I have enjoyed my stay at National Central University because of you guys.
