Courses is your Business

What do you thing about learn master in here? cool? Yes. It is. There are many things that I can share about my experience in 2 years as a master student with this writing. But it will be better if you try it yourself, believe me it will be more interesting. In this writing, I will share some interesting things that happened during my 2 years here.

Never imagined that I would learn about geology before. Because I graduated from the Physics Department. Choosing geology as a follow-up study is a risky choice. However, thanks to Professor Wang, who noticed my second application and accepted me as his student so I could continue my studies at the Applied Geology Department here.

I can learn many things as a master's student here. Learn the meaning of true independent learning. From looking for research topics that I want to do, choosing the right software, and all the problems that come with it. With a minimal background, looking for a research topic is a rather tiring experience. While studying we look for research that we want to do for the next two years. After finding the topic we choose, the next challenge is: we should find the appropriate software for the research topic we choose. In this journey, there are still interesting things to be faced. One of them is the capabilities of the software that we use are appropriate or not. To achieve this, many problems must be solved. One of them is by communicating with the software provider. With this, I can learn other things, apart from existing research and courses.

My advisor often says "Courses is your business". At first I didn't understand this. But after graduating I understood that taking classes or courses is the simplest and easiest thing we can do ourselves. The challenging thing is research and in this case my advisor helps as much as possible as a team in discussing and solving the problems we face. By studying in the Geohydraulic lab, we are introduced to the real world of work, with the smallest team being me and the professor and then the larger team being the lab members.

Apart from research things, studying abroad will also be exposed to social and personal life in other countries. Adaptation is a very important ability when we decide to study abroad. At first, I didn't expect that I would be blessed with so many lovely friends. Some provide endless happiness, others provide adventure and travel around Taiwan. However, some friendships also provide valuable lessons that are impossible to forget. Having friends from several countries made me learn about dealing with people with very different backgrounds. And this is new for me, very interesting.

Once again I would like to thank Professor Shih-Jung Wang for allowing me to join the Geohydraulic lab so that I can enjoy many interesting experiences in my learning process. Thank you also to all the lab mates here, without you I can't enjoy my study here.
